Trends come and go, but your style and how you feel in your clothing can last forever. Only buy clothing that you love, that fits you like a glove, and that you feel amazing in. Many trends each season don’t carry over well to everyday life–look for classic twists on trendy items to incorporate into your wardrobe.

Biker: Leather pants, motorcycle boots, buckles, and subtle padding or quilting on leather jackets.

Trend: Biker | Photo: fashionising.com | Designer: Burberry

Do:
+Mix and match traditional and trend to make this style work for your wardrobe. Try a classic piece such as a crisp white or trench coat style shirt with a pair of leather pants–perfect to add a little “edge” to your look.
+Add a belt at your natural waist. It is a great way to accentuate an hour-glass figure or creating an illusion of one if you have a straighter figure.
+Invest in a great motorcycle jacket with simple details. It will never go out of style and is a great addition to anyone’s wardrobe.

Don’t:
+Wear all things “biker” at once. Keep it simple and wear one or two things with edgier details.
+Invest in a pair of leather pants. Think about the cost-per-wear and if the purchase is worthwhile.

Many women shy away from shopping for lingerie because they feel that they can’t find anything to fit their body shape or feel confident in. I want women to love how they look right now in their lives, not ten pounds from now, not one year from now- but right now. Even in lingerie!

{Tips to finding lingerie just for you}

1. Hourglass figure? Look for fabrics that accentuate the shape of your body. Items that taper in at the smallest part of your waist will work the best.
2. Shoulders narrower than hips? A v-shape top will draw the eye outwards and create a broader shoulder to balance out your hips. Also, Look for fabrics cut on the bias such as the turquoise dress in video, it will flatter any body shape (and hides bumps and lumps).
3. Voluptuous? Try separates. Many women are a different size up top than they are on the bottom. Separates will let you choose the size appropriate for different areas of your body.
3. Want to hide your tummy? Try a corset. It is truly magical! The weight of the material, the boning and seaming will hold everything in place. It also keeps “the girls” up where they belong and makes the torso look longer and leaner. Look for a corset that you can lace up to accentuate your natural curves or to create the hourglass figure.

Every few months I host a girl’s night out at a local boutique offering style tips, makeup and hair demos, drinks, shopping, goody bags, drawings, discounts and fabulous girl time!

The last event was held at The Blues Jean Bar in Cherry Creek North. This is not your typical bar- it is a safe haven for people in search of a cozy atmosphere to find the perfect pair of blues. In addition to the fabulous staff, serving it up was Hair Stylist Liz Mefford of Salon No Dice, Makeup Artist Sameera Ahmed of Makeup by Sameera, and capturing all the fun was Photographer Audrey Fisher of Audrey Michel Photography.

When is the last time you looked in the mirror and thought, “Damn, I look good!”? Or felt sexy or beautiful? We, as women, take care of so many other people and get so caught up in our day to day lives that we forget to stop and take a moment and do something nice for ourselves.

It’s not about being selfish- it’s about being conscious of how we treat ourselves. How can you really expect to take care of others if you can’t even take 5 minutes for yourself? Moms especially have a hard time with this one. Set a good example for your kids by showing them that you’re important too.

Going out with the girls or on a date? Here are a few simple tips to help you feel fabulous again!

1. Take time to actually get ready. Have your baby sitter come over an hour earlier to give you some extra time just for you. Do your hair, put on makeup, paint your nails.
2. Put on a pair of heels. Nothing makes a woman feel sexier than a great pair of heels.
3. Leave the “mom bag” at home. Grab a cute clutch and go. All you really need is your cell phone, keys, a credit card or cash, and some lipstick.

Think back to the last time you felt sexy. What was it about you then that made you feel that way? I challenge you to find your inner diva, once again. But this time- welcome her, hold on to her, and bring sexy back- even if it’s only for one night.

Found that perfect item? Is it worth the price? Think about this: cost per wear.

For example, If you need a dress for a fancy event and it is $300 and you only plan on wearing it once- cost per wear: $300. If you find a pair of jeans that fit you like a glove and are $200 but you plan on wearing them 200 times this year- cost per wear: $1. (And as far as jeans go, if you do find that perfect pair- BUY THEM! If you can afford to buy two pairs- do! One to wear with flats and one to wear with heels.)

Granted, you can’t substitute the jeans for the fancy dress. However, if you decide you will only wear the $300 dress to this one event- maybe you should look for one that is less expensive or a dress that will serve multiple purposes.

This will help to put your purchases in perspective of how much an item is worth to you based on how often you think you will wear it.

With Labor Day fast approaching, many of you may be wondering if it is appropriate to wear your white pants or white shoes after labor day. The answer is YES! Times have changed, and anyone that criticizes you about your white heels is not in the know. Feel free to tell them so, nicely. If you live in a climate that stays consistently warm well through September, as Denver is, feel free to wear your Summer clothing, white shoes included, until it feels like Fall has finally arrived. You be the judge. I personally am tired of my Summer wardrobe at this time and would prefer to be wearing jeans, sweaters, tights and boots. Soon enough, I guess.

Tina’s Tip: White pants are wearable year-round if they are the right fabric and color. For cooler months, opt for a heavier weight pant in an off-white tone instead of a crisp, stark white. Many designers are making fully lined three-season wool pants that can take you from Fall through Spring. Just remember to not eat spaghetti or drink coffee while driving in them- that is just an accident waiting to happen.
